Interestinger and Interestinger

Got a job offer yesterday.

It’s a temporary job (although, aren’t all jobs temporary, really?) that runs through the end of June.

It pays well. In fact, it pays very well.

It requires me to be at my employer’s office space from 8am to 5pm every weekday from now until the end of June.

This… complicates childcare arrangements. This potentially complicates everything regarding our financial situation. It complicates my ability to travel (and I had some travel plans in mind, as some of you know.)

The job offer is a good thing. And for all of the complications it introduces, there are worse complications to have.

I’m going to be overworked for the next week or three. Way overworked.

This could be as truly temporary as they say it is, which may mean that all I’m doing is delaying everything in my life (bankruptcy, divorce, etc.) by a few months.

Or it could be the beginning of me completely rebuilding my life, starting with getting my financial house in order.

Going to have to keep my eyes on the prize, and do what I can to make this into the latter, not the former.

Hmmm.

  1. Sometimes life throws us these interesting little tidbits our way. I say go with your gut and see what happens. Sometimes the “right” decision isn’t always the easiest one. Trust your gut…it knows.

    *hugs*

    • Thanks, mommasunshine.

I have very complicated feelings about this whole endeavor. I see at least two (muddy) paths branching out from taking this job. I’m taking your advice to heart.

  2. Take the job. You’re not in the position to turn down work. You can’t do anything until your family is on track financially.

    • Oh, I’m taking the job. I’m just mindful that it carries with it a lot of implications (some of which I suppose I’ll go into in a future post). But turning down the job would be… irresponsible.

  3. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on the job offer!!

I say, take it! It could turn into something permanent if they like you, and it’s the money you’ve been looking for. Perhaps you can catch up a bit in the next few months and maybe- just maybe, it will mean that you can keep the house (if that’s what you want).

As for child care… Penny isn’t working right now anyway, is she? So let her take care of the kids and cross that bridge when you come to it.

  4. WE talked. You know what I think. And You also know that I support whatever decision you make!

    Thinking of you!

  5. I inferred from the post that the job was optional but I see from the comments that is not the case. So, good luck and all the best. My fingers are crossed for clear muddiness! I am guessing we won’t see much in this space for the next little while and I’m okay with that… for now. My expectations will return in July (or when the job is over, if that is later 🙂

  6. Congrats and I hope that the complications aren’t as bad as the bennefits are good.

  7. Congrats, my friend! I am glad you have a bit of a temporary fix, and hopefully you are still able to charge forward with everything you want to, in the interim, while getting some cash at the same time. I think good things are just around the bend!

  8. Yes, congratulations Inris. I look forward to reading about how the job goes and how the family situation follows. -Pippi

  9. CONGRATS! You just never know what can come of something like this, so aside from the good money, I hope there are some other unexpected perks.

I also hope Penny doesn’t see this as some kind of opportunity to “do nothing” about her employment, citing her need to be with the kids as an excuse. Yikes.

  10. […] then I get to overthinking it. As Leah commented, “I also hope Penny doesn’t see this as some kind of opportunity to ‘do […]
